your garden is gorgeous!! i didn't buy anything new this year either. it was all about saved seeds and seeds i already bought last year...and of course, all those wonderful volunteers!!
Not all of the zinnia buds look that, so it must be the particular type. It stays in that stage forever though. A clarification: only the flowers are from my seeds last year...not the fruits and veggies. I haven't got that far yet in my gardening skills :)
I am an unschooling, tribal dancing, chicken raising, flower loving, wheat grinding mom to 4 wonderful kids. I have been married for 17 years to the love of my life, John. John is a Psychology professor who has been helping me be the kind of person I want to be for over 18 years. He supports us so I can stay at home, hanging out with my cool kids. We spend our days living, loving, and learning on our 5 acre ridge in North Georgia.

too exciting! really! :) Can't wait to see it when we're up there. What's the top flower? It's cool looking!
Mindy, it looks fabulous! It totally transforms your front yard - I am thrilled for you!
Thanks Gail :)
Kelli, the top flower is a zinnia bud. I love the cool wavy spiky strands that turn into the petals.
Elizabeth, that means a lot coming from you! I have always admired your beautiful garden and flower power skills :)

what is name of the first flower; the pink and yellow flower? It is really cool looking, does it petal out? Jess
oh, now I see Kelli's question and your zinnia answer, we have grown these guys but I never noticed how they look in bud stage. WOW - too cool.
That's a Zinnia bud? Amazing! I used to grow hundreds for cuttings at the farm and never saw that stage. Maybe it's that specific type. Beautiful!!
