Project 365: April 30, 2008 Day 26 Comments on "Distracted"

Jessica from Joyfully Learning wrote a post recently that hit me like a ton of bricks. Distracted. I was blown away because so many times I find myself distracted by what the kids want or need when I am occupied with something else. But this reminder from Jessica is something I will hold near and dear to me. I think I'm going to print something out to this effect and hang it around my house. Doing stuff for and with my kids and my husband is my primary occupation. Everything else is the distraction.

Project 365: April 29, 2008 Day 26 " Unschooling History"

Another day without a photo....I wasn't feeling well. My throat started hurting and I just lay low all day. I spent the day watching tv with the kids. We watched the History Channel for the first time. We saw the mystery surrounding Hitler's secret bunker. On the food channel we watched one of our favorite chefs/authors/travelers Anthony Bourdin visit London and eat some Indian curry and dine out at Gordon Ramsey's restaurant. We then watched him go to Japan and eat fuku (sp?), sushi, and some crazy stuff at a mountain getaway for the wealthy complete with hot springs and Geishas. Then we watched the history of pizza in America and the history of soda. Our conversations were bigger than life and we all made so many connections. Very cool. So goes a day in the life of an unschooling family.

Project 365: April 28, 2008 Day 25 "Who-ville"

Sophie found this while walking in the woods.
She said it looked just like "Who-ville".
I have to agree.

Project 365: April 22, 2008 Day 19 "Sharing the Bounty"

I knew I wouldn't be able to last a whole year with only pictures. I simply like to talk too much!

Not only did we have a great time with Madeline and Nicolas, but they completely shared their bounty with us. This is no small thing, as their bounty is organic veggies , and we're probably the biggest foodies on the planet!!! And not only is it organic veggies, but ASPARAGUS, picked fresh and then roasted! Oh my god. I have had my share of roasted asparagus, but never this fresh and incredibly good. I didn't get any pictures because I was too busy eating the freshly roasted stalks...so eager I didn't mind a little seared flesh because they were so hot. Hmmm...the problem now is will any other asparagus taste as good to me? Highly doubtful. What I did get a picture of today was another shared bounty from Nicolas. This time in the form of some plants from the farm that John is going to try to coax into our own tomatoes and peppers. I'm crossing my fingers and hoping he can grow what Nicolas started.

Project 365: April 20, 2008 Day 17 "Disney 2009..."

I'm definitely having too much fun. I did not capture an image today either. So today has to be summed up with some words:

Disney: 2009, Irises, Iced Coffee, Tennis, Fishing, Baseball, Panty Lines, Roasted Farm-Veggie Dinner, Sweet Goodbyes to Good Friends...

Project 365: April 19, 2008 Day 16 "Birding"

Again, no snapshot.

My mental picture of today has to be recalled with a quote from Max:
"I thought this was going to be more fun than it is."

Project 365: April 18, 2008 Day 15 "Road Trip"

I did not take my daily picture today. Instead, I'm writing a mental snapshot that represents today in our lives.

Today was filled with anticipation, tidying, and packing for our trip to see Madeline and family.

Project 365: April 17, 2008 Day 14 "Toyota"

Finally, after a MONTH, we got a new van to replace my beloved Odyssey, that I totaled :(

Project 365, Day 1: April 4, 2008

I want to do a version of the Project 365 Blog Anne has organized on the shine list. Basically, you post ONE picture, everyday, for 365 days. I like the idea of one image capturing our day, then the culmination of those images capturing our year. So I'm starting today.
