This conference was amazing in so many ways. I felt so peaceful, exactly where I needed to be. As I looked at my last post, I was struck by the fact that everything I mentioned as being really important to us, happened. What I was not expecting was to fall in love with more beautiful souls than I ever felt was possible. I was touched by the kindness, generosity, and sheer joy I felt in such plentitude at the conference. I did not capture everything I wanted in pictures. I wish I had. I was so busy enjoying the moment, I forgot to capture it. Then, I would remember, take a flurry of pictures for a particular event, and promptly forget again. I am so grateful for Kelly Lovejoy and her family for making this event such a huge part of our lives. I am thankful for the amazing people I have been introduced to and have become such dear friends with. I am most especially and powerfully thankful for the amazing voices in this unschooling community that have helped me be a better parent.

Maria's Amazing Henna
Make Up Funshop -Ms. Vania,(kmmm...Kyra) I did not reveal your secret with a picture!
Talent Show Pictures...I was way too entrasnced to capture all the talent that I was honored to witness. Truly, a highlight of any Live and Learn for me is the Talent Show. Sadly, I only snapped out of my rapture momentarily to capture a few acts.
The talent show would not be possible without the audience...

I wasn't able to capture her during her act, so I took this after, in the room, where she was still doing gymnastics!
Friends..but only a token sample of the amazing friends I know because of L&L!

I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to meet you at the conference, but I very much enjoyed all the talent your family shared! And those pillows! Do you sell on etsy? I loved those pillows but the one(s) I wanted were gone when I returned with money. :)
But I did meet you!!! We didn't really connect, but I loved watching your son play the guitar, and I loved watching you and your husband watch your son play the guitar! You truly radiated sparkly warmth, so even though we didn't get to connect this time around, I'm sure we will in the future.
We don't etsy, or haven't yet. The pillows were the kids' inspiration. They all got really into embroidery and all decided to make pillows. One thing led to another and they decided to sell them at L&L. They were beautiful, weren't they? I had my eye on a few, and had plans to purchase them myself in case they didn't find a buyer...lo and behold, they all sold! If you really, truly want one, I could ask them if they'd do a commission!
Yes, we did meet briefly - I just didn't know if you'd remember. :) That's funny you mention us watching Brady play guitar... that was huge for us on many levels. Even though he's in a rock band that he formed with friends, it's *huge* for him to get up there and jam with people he'd only just met. In all our years of conference-going (in IL), he's never done anything in the talent show, even when asked! He's blossomed so much in the past few years and we are quite smitten. :)
Pillows on commission would be great! I've been searching and searching for throw pillows I like - and those fit the bill! Lemme know how much for which sizes. Once we recover a bit, financially (we've traveled a lot this summer and we're *flat broke*), I'll place an order! Cool!
Smitten...yes! The only way to be! Your joy shined very brightly, as did he. I'm so glad he performed. It truly is one of my favorite parts of the conference. I feel honored that these amazing people share the beauty of their talent with me!
Ahhh, the pillows...they were $3, $5, $10, and $13, respectively for their sizes. No pressure. If you decide you like, let me know. There were hearts ($3), flowers $3 and $5), and dragons $3 and $10). The big one was a bonzai tree($13).
Rock On :)
